A $2 SOLUTION TO PREVENT COMMON INTERIOR WEAR - AKA: The Two Buck Trick

Okay, this is a very simple mod that helps keep new scratches from appearing on your console due to your seatbelt buckle scraping against it.  Some will say this is a total waste of time but others who care about the little details about their car will find it handy.

Introduction
Here we have the problem.  The buckle of the seatbelt scrapes against the side of the console, leading to a very common series of scratches that make the car look a bit trashy.  We already have the beginnings of the scratches on a nearly new car with less than 1,700 miles on it.
Step 1
Jump in your beater and head to the local hardware or general store.  Grab a package of 2" x 4" Velcro strips.  In this case we have package number 90434, which contains 2 "sets" of Velcro.  This is all we will need.
Step 2
Open the package and set he plastic "hook" pieces aside, we will not be needing them.  Take the two softer fabric portions and cut 1 1/2" off each piece.
Step 3
The buckle we will be applying the Velcro to is in two sections.  Apply the longer of the two pieces we cut to the bottom portion of the seatbelt and then apply the 1 1/2" piece to the top portion.  Try to cover the front of the seatbelt buckle as well as much of the side as possible.  It is the front "corner" of the buckle that seem to do the most damage.
Step 4
Here we have the completed driver's side buckle, covered by the Velcro.  This will virtually eliminate the buckle scraping on the weak plastic on the side of the console.
Step 5
Most people won't even notice it is there.  It doesn't look too bad, no more scratches on the side of your console and heck...wasn't it fun?

Well, there you have it.  Possibly the most particular mod I think I have ever done, but in a year or less while everyone has huge dorky scratches in their interior, mine will still be looking new.
