It is widely known that porting an LS1 throttle body
increases horsepower and throttle response. I learned
of a guy named Ron (AKA "Cammin BeaSSt" on the f-body
message boards) who known for doing a great job porting throttle
bodies. I got in touch with him, made the necessary
arrangements, removed my stock throttle body and sent it to
him. While I was waiting, I also did the
throttle
body coolant bypass mod.
When Ron received my throttle body, he started the process
by completely disassembling it. He then ported and polished
the inside air flow areas and blade to brilliant mirror-like
finish, smoothed down the shaft to reduce even the slightest
air restriction, ground down the bump-stop (to allow to blade
to open completely) and filled and smoothed any holes inside
the throttle body that will impede direct air flow with epoxy.
He then lubricated all moving parts and reassembled
the throttle body.
24 hours after Ron had received it, my throttle body was on
the way back to me.
Removal and re-installation of the throttle body is fairly
straightforward, the price can't be beat ($100 including standard
shipping), the downtime is minimal and the port and polish
quality is second to none.
