Reader E-mail About My 2010 Camaro SS Project
One of the cool parts about documenting a car build online is that you get some nice feedback and questions from people who read about it. Here are a few that I have received recently and my answers to them.
Do you have a question or comment about what I have done to my 2010 Camaro SS so far? Feel free to drop me a line or just enter your question or comment at the bottom of any entry on this web site!
Okay, on to the reader e-mails…

Good afternoon Jason, my name is Joe. I fell in love with the cyber grey Camaro when I saw your car at the SEMA show. I picked up my cyber grey Camaro 2SS/RS today. I would like some more information on the Magnacharger at what mileage you installed it? Difficulty tuning, etc.? I will be ordering mine in the next few weeks. With your permission I would like to do the same thing with the type of rims you used and suspension. Can you give me the specs on the Forgeline rims and the Pedders suspension? I live in Santa Maria CA, 1.5 hours away from Magnacharger and I am wondering where I can purchase the supercharger because Magnacharger only refers you to dealers. Thank you for your time.
Hey there, Joe!
I am glad you liked seeing my Camaro at SEMA. I put a lot of thought into it and I am not done yet! Keep an eye on this site for more updates in the near future.
As far as the modifications I have made to my car…
- Magnacharger:

It got installed right around 1,800 miles on the odometer. I got mine from HotPart.Com and you should too. They have the best price out there, plus there is a $750 off coupon code that makes it even cheaper. See the above link for info. - Vector Motorsports Tune:
Link: http://www.phantomss.com/2010-camaro-ss/info-2010-camaro-l99-tune-vector-motorsports/
Magnacharger supplies a tune that works great with the blower, but if you want a fully custom tune, go to these guys. - Forgeline Wheels:

Working with Forgeline was a pleasant experience and all of the specs and info on my wheels can be found at the above link - Pedder’s Suspension:

The Pedder’s guys are awesome and make a great product. Check the link above for complete details on the install.

I was really impressed by the sound of your exhaust system. Just what I’ve been wanting. Longtubes with a DEEP throaty sound too it. Not too raspy.
I was hoping you could tell me exactly which parts you got. From what I understand you have the Borla longtubes without cats but I’m unsure of what Borla catback you have.
Do you have the louder Sport (a.k.a Stingers) or the quieter Touring catback? Does your setup also include Borla’s x-pipe and everything else they supply for their catback or in your case longtubes back?

Thanks so much for explaining in detail how you got your awesome sound!
Thanks for the e-mail, Josh!
The headers that I went with are indeed the Borla Long Tube headers. Of course, I only have the cats removed during “off-road” use.
For the exhaust, I went with the quieter Borla “Touring style” catback. I like a loud exhaust like anyone else, but sometimes, louder isn’t always better. I have found that after a while, extremely loud exhausts lose their novelty and become an annoyance to the driver and everyone else. Besides, I wanted to make sure I could hear the whine of the Magnacharger, which isn’t very loud to begin with.
If you buy both the headers and catback from Borla, you get everything you need. Be aware that if you mix brands you might have parts left over that you had to pay for because the Borla headers do not come with the X-pipe, the catback does. With other brands, they X-pipe sometimes comes with the headers. Do some research before you buy!
In case you missed it, here are a all of the links to videos where you can hear my 2010 Camaro’s exhaust:

I am very happy with my Borla headers and exhaust system. Check out this Youtube link that shows how easy the headers fit!

I just have a quick question for you about your Forgeline SO3P’s. Did the polished lip have a clearcoat on it? I’m in the hunt for wheels for my 2SS/RS and don’t want to make the mistake again of getting bare aluminum wheels… they are HELL to clean. Also, if you dont mind me asking, how much did they set of SO3P’s cost you. I cant seem to find a ballpark price anywhere and just havent had the time to sit down and call them or a distributor. Thanks for you time and your car looks AWESOME!
Brannan,
The polished lip does not have clearcoat on it, and I am thankful. I have found that once a clearcoat on a surface like that gets nicked with a rock or marred during a tire installation, it is very hard to repair and starts to look pretty bad over time. I just make sure that I wipe them down with a clean microfiber towel once in a while using plain water. It might be an extra few seconds once in a while, but it is worth it.
For current pricing information, just check out Forgeline’s S03P wheels at this link and scroll down. From there, you can build a complete set of custom wheels including center cap choices, center finish options, outer and inner rim finish options and even fastener options. Once you build your exact combination, it gives you a price and let’s you place your order online. This works for all of their wheel designs. Or, you can contact Forgeline and tell them what you want. They are great to deal with. Be sure to tell them I sent you!
Thanks for the nice words about my car!
That’s it for now!
